Why choose braces for teeth straightening?

Braces help in moving the teeth into the desired position and align them to bite together correctly, which in medical terms is known as occlusion. Many patients experience dental issues like overcrowded teeth, spacing, overbite and underbite, all of which can be corrected with braces.

The benefits of braces include more than just a straight smile, the treatment from Dr Savita can also help by correcting speech impediments, removing eating and chewing difficulties, clenching/grinding teeth, gum disease, sleep apnea resulting from snoring/breathing through the mouth, and tooth decay, to name a few.

After an initial examination, at my dental clinic in Etobicoke, I will recommend the right orthodontic treatment for you, so that you may walk away with the magical smile you’ve always wanted.

Types of Braces

METAL BRACES

Metal braces are made of stainless steel brackets that your dentist will position on either the back or front of your teeth, along with metal wires that, as they are tightened, will move your teeth into a straighter position and alignment. Depending on your condition, your dentist may also use rubber bands to assist in this process. Children often enjoy having their dentist add colourful loops to front-facing brackets to make their smile more vibrant, unique, and reduce the amount of metal that shows.

CERAMIC BRACES

Ceramic braces use the same wiring as metal braces, but the brackets are clear or the same colour as your teeth. They function the same way that metal braces do by applying pressure to your teeth so that they straighten and align over a period of time. Many adult patients tend to choose ceramic braces because they’re less noticeable.
